Mr. G, Buccaneer board the "Hawk"

even though it was the white dove of peacethat was released during the night's happenings, what was really being celebrated was the public return of one of the most aggressive and potent forces in the sound system movement.

Artistes (Buccaneer, Goofy, aka Mr G; Red Rose; Wickerman; Capt barky among others), selectors from other sounds, media and well-wishers thronged the upper deck of Medusa bar & Grill on Thursday night for the relaunch of Silver Hawk, one of a handful of sound systems that helped define the transition of dancehall music from underground to mainstream, beginning in the 1990s.

The evening also encompassed a masterful tribute - courtesy of DJ engineroom (aka Chris Edmonds) - to the late production wiz, Steelie (of duo Steelie and Clevie; Clevie was very much in attendance ), who playeda stunning range of tracks featuring the ace producer. Then it was time for Silver hawk maestro Richie Poo and company to take control, reeling off the hits and "specials" (dubplates)from the lieks of Buju, Toots Hibbert, Bunny Wailer and even the late Crown Prince Dennis Brown. Co-sponsor Wray & nephew ketp the libations flowing, and the two former MainStreeters, Goofy and Buccaneer did a short but peppy stint.

Mr G on the RJR Cross-Country Xpress

Mr G has been rocking the RJR Cross-Country tour over the last several weekends, building and enhancing his national fan base. The Express has been grooving through Clarendon, Manchester and Portland, with forthcoming stops in Hanover and St James. Watch this space and the media for more details and look out for the Cross Country Mobile in your area. Mr G, the "real real DJ " and RJR "the real reason for radio": an unbeatable partnership.

Filthy Mout' Cleaning up on local radio

The latest hit-bound missile from the Mr G arsenal, "Filthy Mout" on the Duck riddim is currently in major rotation on Jamaican airwaves. The track continues the Mr G mission of saturating the air both locally and overseas as he gears up for major tours in the coming weeks and months. Also making a healthy racket for the star is "Healthy Body" and Mr G fans can look out for even more hit-bound tracks soon.

Its Settled!! LA Crumbles to the "G-Force"

The word is all out and all over town. Last week's "Settlement" show headlined by Mr G and LA Lewis, saw the "G-man" standing tall over LA as the lyrical clash to end all clash lived up to its billing at the ..... in St Thomas.

Mr G never gave his rival a fighting chance, delivering knockout blow after knockout blow. Even when a flustered LA threw his jacket in a fit of pique, Mr G kept it clean and continued the lyrical hammering until LA was history.

Also on the bill, veteran Queen Paula took it to the upstart Lisa Hyper, Gabriel triumphed over Merciless and Stylist and Sasha Lee gave good accounts of themselves.
